*he could drop out...*
Dex smiled when the bell rang for recess he knew exactly where to go. He walked to the playground and quietly climbed to upper most branch in the willow tree. He hid there. He decided he was going to stay there. He started to read his book. He had lost count of how many times he had read that book, but he loved it.

*okay * Sheya got through the day, but she was the first one through the door when the teacher announced recess. She ate her lunch quickly with another group of girls. This group didn't mind her too much but still gave her weird glance. When she was done she said "I am going to go play now." Sheya slung her blue bag over her shoulder and ran towards the playground, there she pretended to play, to make sure no one followed her. Then she crept behind the bushes nd ran underneath the her tree, the weeping willow. The branches hung so low that no one could even see inside. She called the tree Willy. She patted the rough bark and said, "How's it going, Willy? Play nice with the other trees?" She laughed to herself and sat on the ground, cross legged leaning against the tree. Sheya flatened her white dress and knew if she got dirt on it her mother would probably put her up for adoption, which wouldn't be so bad. Reaching into her bag she pulled out another one of her favorites. The Great Gilly Hopkins. The stubborn girl in that story made Sheya wish she were more like Gilly. Sheya flipped through the pages were her silk red book mark left her place on page 82. She closed her eyes for a second and breathed enjoying the peace. Then she began reading.

Dex looked down at the person talking, but then returned to his book. He didn't want to talk to anyone. He wanted to be by himself. He had almost finished his book for the thousandth tim, at least that's what it felt like. He wanted another book. He sighed. He loked down at the girl reading. "hey." he whispered. He slowly crept down to her. "Can I borrow a book?" he asked. "I have read this one a lot." he said shaking the ratty looking book. He had read it so many times it seemed to be falling apart in his hands.

Sheya looked at the boy, surprised. "Um, yes, of course. Here you go." She fumbled through her bag, grabbing the first thing she felt. She looked at it, and gave it to him. "Alice In Wonderland, nice story." She nodded and tried to continue reading her book but kept eyeing the boy. This had never happened to her before. Why was he hear?

"Thanks." Dex said happily. He went back up to where he had been and started reading. It was a good story. He thought that the cat was really funny. Sometimes he would even laugh. He had fogotten what his laugh was like. "what are you reading?" He called down to the girl.

"The Great Gilly Hopkins," she called to him, "One of my favorites." Sheya stood up and put the book in her bag. She slipped her shoes off and slowly climbed the willow in her white tights. Hey, maybe adoption wouldn't be so bad. She sat across from the boy on a comfortable branch. "So, what's you name?" she asked sweetly.

"I don't blame you." Sheya looked at her Winnie-The-Pooh watch and her face fell. "Well Mister Dex. It was nice meeting you, but I have to go home before my mother finds out I was climbing a tree, no less with a boy." Sheya smiled and began to climb down.

Dew watched the girl go. "bye..." He said. Then he looked at his book and started reading again, leaning back against the branch and relaxing his head in the spot that he had found fit him perfectly. He smiled as the cat appeared again in the book. A few minutes latfer he thought about it, he still had the girl's book. He jumped out of the tree and ran after what he hoped was the girl. "hey your book." He said waving it in his hands.

Dex thought about this. "I don't know. Yeah I guess. I'll be in that tree again." He said. He sighed and then turned and went to his house. He sat at home and sighed. "I have to go in at some point." He mumbled to himself. He stood and walked inside avoiding the everyday smell of alchahol in the house. He went into his room and grabbed his book and started reading.
